In Social Studies we are learning about Virginia's role in the American Revolution. Many Virginians helped with the war and helped the colonies earn their freedom from England. George Washington was a leader of the Continental Army, Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence and Patrick Henry let his voice be heard when he stated that there should be "no taxation without representation."
Please click on the link below to find out more about the Loyalists and Patriots. After carefully reading it, take the quiz at the bottom of the link. Loyalist or Patriot
COMMENT: After reading and taking the quiz, decide it you would have been a Loyalist, Patriot or if you would have remained neutral in the war. Why would you have taken that stance? Use complete sentences. Check spelling, capitalization, punctuation and answer with details.
I would haved LOVED to be a Patriot because I love being an American.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be a Patriot. Great Britain wouldn't stand a chance. I love being an American. We wouldn't even have iPads, iPods, iPhones, iPod Touches, Androids, or even these Dell Computers without America!
ReplyDeleteNot me.
DeleteI agree with you ows.But what if the Americans did not come up with the idea of electronics?
DeleteWhat do you mean "not me", sft?
DeleteYa O W S
DeleteArp, sometimes things are made in America. Unlike all those other things that are 'Made in China.' Ack!
DeleteGood one O.W.S
DeleteYeah, what do you mean"not me".
DeleteYeah what do you mean "not me". ach
DeleteWhat do you mean by "not me"?
DeleteI know a person who's dad doesn't buy a THING made from China. He either makes everything or buys stuff that's only made in America.
DeleteNice one
DeleteI mean, who would want to buy a teddy bear that was made in Tokyo?
DeleteIt would be very cool and I would fight HARD for my country. I would also like it when we break away from England. Patrick Henry would make a speech and I would attend it. George Washington would be proud of me.
ReplyDeleteI agree, clk.
DeleteThat's right clk.
DeleteWhat are you talking about?
DeleteWhat are you talking about
DeleteWhy would you fight clk?I mean,You can get killed.
DeleteI would be on not ones side cause I think it is silly to have a war, cause Britain should of stopped taxing them. Just cause they do not live there. People that live there should make the rules and not people over in Britain. Its okay if they tax tea for a good price. Its was great that people took a stand i would of done the same thing if I were there.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, sft, but if there's a war going on, then what are you going to do? Sit around a listen to the gunshots?
DeleteI do want to fight for America and be a Patriot. Those Flintlock Muskets would be heavy back then in the American Revolution and Civil War.It's not right taxing without representation.
ReplyDeleteWho WOULDN'T like to be a Patriot? Whoever likes America, reply to this comment and say: U.S.A.

DeleteYeah, sorry, I meant guys.
DeleteU.S.A
DeleteThat is what I thought
DeleteI know
DeleteThat's what the National Anthem is for, people! Freedom from England! Whoo hoo!
ReplyDeleteI agree O.W.S!
DeleteI would probably be a Patriot during the war because, if the king was taxing nearly everything I owned,I would probably be pretty mad at him. Also, I don't agree with him even though he would have been my king at the time because, he was the one that decided to pay for the war, and I don't think we should have to.
ReplyDeleteDown with taxes! No more Acts!
ReplyDeleteGood one O.W.S
DeleteYeah, good one.
DeleteGood one O.W.S

DeleteI would've been a Patriot because we should have a say in the government and be free .They're taxing most of are stuff and I don't want them to keep doing it.
ReplyDeleteI meant our. Sorry.
DeleteDon't you mean our.
DeleteGo hrw!
DeleteI am glad that I took that test I learned something new. If I had to choose against Patriot or Loyalist
ReplyDeleteI would be a Patriot
Because I would want to be on my country
DeleteI'd be a patriot, because if i was being taxed I'd be mad.
ReplyDeleteThat I should be capitol and also,I agree.
DeleteThank you arp.
DeleteIf I was in war I would love to be a Patriot. The reason I want to be a patriot is because I would love to have my own rules instead of following the kings rules all the sea. So that is what i would like to be out of the Patriot or a Loyalist.
ReplyDeleteI would choose to be a Patriot because i don't think the king should get 75% of the money people paid because that is not fare. That is why i would choose to be a Patriot.
ReplyDeleteI would have gone on strike.
ReplyDeleteMy choice during the war would be neutral because I am not fighting in that war and still I do not like taxes.I want to be as pretty as I am no scars or scratches !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :()
ReplyDeleteBoom goes the Loyalists!
DeleteNot me I would not fight in the war cause I would work in the hospital.
DeleteBut working in the hospitals is technically working for a side, sft. You could help England or America.
DeleteAre you a Loyalists case I would fight. :o:o:o:o .
DeleteI would fight with the U.S.A .
DeleteWhy do you have so many of these set?!!!
DeleteYeah
DeleteToday I learned a lot about the Revolutionary War. Benedict Arnold was a member of the Continental Army until he joined with the British to become a spy. During the Revolutionary War Loyalists had a very hard time living because the Patriots were slowly winning. Abigail Adams also had a hard time during the war. The solders were hiding in her house, and training in her yard. Under those circumstances I would definitely have been a patriot because I would rather have had a separate government from England than be under the rule of England for a long amount of time.
ReplyDeleteYeah! But I think you forgot some punctuation.
DeleteI enjoyed reading that.
DeleteWow cle! That's a lot but it gave me more information.Thank's!
DeleteI enjoyed reading it too.
DeleteDuring that time I would be a Patriot because I would not like live under a king that was half way a round the world. So I would fight for America!
ReplyDeleteI agree.Go rsf!
DeleteNice comment rsf
DeleteI would have been a Patriot because I love being an American
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't want to be an American?
DeleteI would always be an American and be free.
ReplyDeleteSometimes Abigail Adams would melt silverware into musket balls for the solders .
ReplyDeleteIf we were British we would've had that cool accent but I am glad to be an American remember that song.
ReplyDeleteI would be a patriot. to fight for freedom. I did not like the tea tax. did you not like the tea tax? yes or no
ReplyDeleteSometimes the patriots would be called Sons Of Liberty. Benjamin Franklin's son (William Franklin) was a Loyalist.
ReplyDeleteAn angry riot of Patriots called the British "lobster backs" because of their red uniforms.
ReplyDeleteThey also called them 'Blood Backs.'
DeleteYeah, I forgot what else they called them. So I just put lobster backs.
DeletePut a y in bloody
DeleteTHANKS MRS LANE
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU MRS LANE
DeleteThat sight is really good for reading skills, social studies skills, test skills and its fun to comment like my first comment. I learned that the Loyalists had a really hard time during the Revolutionary war. The Patriots kicked them out of Virginia. The neutrals didn't have to fight they could sit back and enjoy life with guns in the background.
ReplyDeleteI wold have been a patriot. Because I think it is wrong for Britain to tax the colonist.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Lane has a book called "My Brother Sam is Dead" that mentions Lobsterbacks and they are in the time period of the Revolutionary war.
ReplyDeleteDid you guess that ?
DeleteThere is another book about The American Revolution call "Early Thunder" in the Class Library. There is two copies.
DeleteHave you read all of it O.W.S. ?
ReplyDeleteIf i was a loyalist.I would fight for my country.
ReplyDeleteChina has makes so many things.
